So I downloaded the COD4 demo....

....and it didn't run on my computer. Took me 2 hours to download it (spread over three days). It was a waste of time, wasn't it?

The Wii U as the Switch's secret sauce

I did like the Wii U more than the Switch, and probably did use it more all things considered. I think like half of the reason the Switch was beloved was because it had Wii U games in its lineup. There are still people that think about BotW and Mario Kart 8 when they think of games for Switch, and of course franchises like Splatoon and Mario Maker were better on their Wii U installments. Not to mention the sheer amount of features, BC and VC the Wii U had compared to Switch, which lost a lot. Although more people will remember the Switch fondly by its sheer scale of its user base, I think the Wii U was secretly/not so secretly powering it.

Imagine if Nintendo had tracked your digital purchases since the 2000s

I remember as a kid wondering why I didn't get access to the games I registered owning on Club Nintendo. Turns out Nintendo never built a centralized system to track purchases, it was all just a bunch of disconnected systems, and anytime a new system came out they started over. They saw Wii VC games and Wii U VC games as separate titles, and it would be laughable to get one for free when you owned the other one. "those are two different things!" Also bad, when you did the transfer as well from Wii to your Wii U, it deletes the game on the Wii. That’s why I refused to do the system transfer on Switch 2, I didn’t need them deleting a random thing for no reason (which they did do for certain users and save files). As an aside, I had hacked my Wii to save a complete copy of the NAND to the SD card, did the transfer, and then reinstalled the copy and it was like it never happened. Sadly, I lost the copy sometime in the following decade, and when I turned the Wii back on to do ...

Finding the best combination to win

I’ve been really enjoying Mario Kart World, and now that I’ve finished all the cups in single player, I’ve been delving into multiplayer. Trying to get my rank up, but with the chance of losing your rank if you do poorly in the race, it feels a lot like gambling until you find the best character and car combo that works best for you. So far I’m trying any car with a fast top speed, as I don’t need to turn as often at higher levels. It’s a work in progress.
